Description of the work to be performed:

Surface Preparation for Fire Station Bay Floors

  • Mechanically clean and prepare existing slabs by abrading the concrete with shot blasting equipment that is water, dust and chemical free. This machine is operated on 220V, 60 amp or 440V, 30-amp three phase power.
  • Power sweep the entire floor to remove any dirt or blasting debris that may affect the floor coating process.
  • Cut a 1/2″ x 1/2″ key where the perimeter of the newly resurfaced floor will be exposed to traffic and recess all the edges for a smooth
    transition and superior bond.
  • Mechanically prepare the areas around the perimeter and all other tight areas with hand scarifiers or grinders. This equipment is vacuumized but may create minimal surface dust on your firestation bay floors.

Installation of Coating Systems for Fire station Bay Floors:

Floor Resurfacer 4000 Flooring System

  • Apply Floor Resurfacer 4000 epoxy primer to the cleaned, prepared area to create a tenacious bond between the concrete and the new bay floor. This will also insure a non slip coating surface. Apply Floor Resurfacer 4000 mortar to the bay floor and then power trowel it to a smooth, dense finish with a nominal thickness of 1/4 inch.
  • Grind the cured resurfacer to remove surface imperfections.
  • Sweep and vacuum the entire surface of the bay floor to remove all contaminants that may interfere with the coating process.
  • Saw cut the joints and fill them with a flexible joint material.
  • Apply one coat of Floor Resurfacer 4000 pigmented, 100% solids non slip coating as a grout coat.
  • Apply one coat of Floor Resurfacer 4000, pigmented, aliphatic polyester polyurethane as a final coat to your fire station bay floor.

Concrete Epoxy 8000 Flooring System for Fire Station Bay Floors

  • Apply one coat of Concrete Epoxy 8000 clear, 100% solids epoxy as a receiver coat and then broadcast industrial grade quartz aggregate into the fresh epoxy to the point of rejection and allow to cure, starting to form the fire station bay floor surface.
  • Once cured, apply one coat of Concrete Epoxy 8000 clear, 100% solids epoxy as a receiver coat and again broadcast industrial grade quartz aggregate into the fresh epoxy to the point of rejection and allow it to cure to further develop the new coating.
  • Grind the cured epoxy/aggregate flooring system in order to smooth the surface and prepare for the next coat of materials.
  • Vacuum the entire surface to remove all contaminants.
  • Saw cut the joints and fill them with a flexible joint material.
  • Apply one coat of Concrete Epoxy 8000, pigmented 100% solids epoxy to the bay floor as an intermediate, coating.
  • Apply one coat of Concrete Epoxy 8000 pigmented, aliphatic polyester polyurethane as a final coat to complete the installation of the new bay floor.

Floor Epoxy 1600 Flooring System for Fire Station Bay Floors

  • Apply one coat of floor epoxy 1600 clear, 100% solids epoxy as a receiver coat and then broadcast industrial grade quartz aggregate into the fresh epoxy to the point of rejection and allow to cure, starting to create the non slip coating.
  • Grind the cured epoxy/aggregate flooring system in order to smooth out the surface and to prepare for the next coat of materials.
  • Vacuum the entire surface of the bay floor to remove all contaminants.
  • Saw cut the joints and fill them with a flexible joint material.
  • Apply one coat of Floor Epoxy 1600, pigmented 100% solids epoxy to the bay floor as an intermediate non slip coating.
  • Apply one coat of Floor Epoxy 1600 pigmented, aliphatic polyester polyurethane as a final coat to complete the installation of the new, fire station bay floor.

Floor Coating 3200 Flooring System

  • Apply one coat of Floor Coating 3200 pigmented, high build epoxy as an initial coat.
  • Apply a second coat of Floor Coating 3200 pigmented, high build epoxy as an intermediate coat and then seed silica aggregate into the fresh epoxy to begin to build the non slip flooring aspect of the system.
  • Apply one coat of Floor Coating 3200 pigmented, aliphatic polyester polyurethane as a final coat and lightly seed aggregate into the fresh urethane to complete the installation of the new fire station bay floor.
